Under construction

The virtual scaffolding has arrived and the Ironbridge Images website is being prepared for a makeover.

It reminds me of the time in the 1990’s, as the internet started to take off, when ‘under construction’ signs were put as placeholders on domain names by people savvy enough to realise that they needed a website, but not so much so that they knew how to build one.

That was when the first incarnation of this site first graced the World Wide Web, as ‘Not! the Ironbridge Gorge‘ – a name inspired by a popular satirical TV show called ‘Not! the Nine O’clock News’ (which actually aired a decade earlier and included Rowan Atkinson, who later found fame as Mr Bean).

Since then, the website has gone through many guises (a totally monochrome version at one point, and nearly a decade of motorsport photography) to come almost full circle as Ironbridge Images. I suppose I could even use its original name, although there are probably not enough people left now who would understand the provenance.

So, what’s in store? More of the same really, but I will be tidying up the menu structure to make it clearer and simpler, losing some of the garish images produced during my dalliance with a software program called Luminar last year, and making the ‘raison d’être’ of the website more obvious.

I will also be adding some ‘behind-the-scenes’ content in response to the current cry of ‘it must be AI’ whenever anyone sees a good photograph. Hopefully, it will go some way to proving that a camera can still be used.

So a few changes, but without spoiling the overall look (which I’m quite happy with). It’s a few weeks’ work, and hopefully it will then inspire me to get out with my camera once again.
